I love my hometown!

Exciting Events: Kilgore, TX

It has been a while since my last post, and I am so sorry! The months August, September and October have been crazy busy. In this blog post, I thought I would highlight a few of some of the fun and exciting things going on in our town.

The Crim Theaterror –  Combine the historical location and presence of downtown with a haunted “house,” and you have one exciting/terrifying event! This event runs 7 p.m. to midnight on October 17, 18, 24, and 25. They have special Halloween hours of 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. October 31st. Be sure to head downtown to check it out, IF you’re brave enough. Visit www.theaterror.com for more information.

Oktoberfest – This is an all-day, family event in downtown Kilgore. From great food to pet pageants, this will be one FUN day. To end the day, Cinema Under the Stars will be playing “Frozen.”  Be sure to visit www.kilgoremainstreet.com for more info.

East Texas Oilmen’s Chili Cookoff – This event (for the public) will take place Thursday, November 6th on Commerce Street in downtown Kilgore. This annual affair has grown exponentially in the past few years, and this year is expected to be the biggest turnout yet. Grab $5 (and some Tums) and head downtown to taste some of the best chili you’ll ever eat!

Annual Snowhill – This annual Chamber event is sure to have something for the whole family. There will be food, vendors, and the infamous snowhill. Get your picture made inside a huge snow globe, listen to some great Christmas music, and enjoy the holiday season in our awesome downtown. The snowhill will take place on Friday, November 21st from 5-9 p.m., and Saturday, November 22nd from 4-9 p.m.

That should get us through the end of November. Before I forget, if you haven’t had a chance – go to www.visitkilgore.com. You might see a familiar face, or two!
